I loved participating in the SE Region Leadership Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida! We began our time together with a Wowzer!Cultural Day! We toured murals (So many!) then on to the Museum of Fine Art, Lunch at Cafe Gala, Dali Museum, and finally The Chihuly Collection! It was an awesome day and we all just enjoyed being together. Spending this time together prepared us to work as a group the next couple of days as we listened and learned from SE state associations who presented advocacy tips, promoting membership and conference ideas.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: ED&I
This session was led by our current NAEA President-Elect, James Haywood Rolling Jr. During the session we learned that we must move past the thought of race and cultural differences when thinking of ED & I. This is because ED & I includes disabilities, socioeconomic, belief systems and orientation. It takes a village of many diverse people to make our organization stronger. We need to reach out and invite all Art educators whether they are a regular classroom teacher who wants to know how to teach art better, a community artist who wants to collaborate or a certified teacher we need to invite all to the table that is KyAEA.

Advocacy
Advocacy is a word that now brings different connotations to different stakeholders with the arts. So instead of saying the word advocate we have opted to use Champion, because we all need to be a Champion for the Arts!
